How it is calculated

Grams = volume in mL × 0.913 g/mL. The density comes from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy, "Oil, olive, salad or cooking"): one US cup (236.59 mL) of olive oil weighs 216 g. 1 oz = 28.3495 g.

Example

Inputs: Amount = 100, Measure = Millilitre (mL), Density = 0.913 g/mL. Result: Weight in grams: 91.3 g; Weight in ounces: 3.22 oz; Volume in millilitres: 100 mL.

Limits and caveats

  • A printed bottle weight can differ slightly because of filling temperature.
  • The value is for oil at room temperature; the density can be edited.

Questions about this tool

How many grams is 100 mL of olive oil?

About 91.3 g.

How much does a litre of olive oil weigh?

About 0.913 kg, roughly 913 g.

Why is 1 mL of oil not 1 gram?

One millilitre equals about one gram only for water. Oil is lighter, so each millilitre weighs less than a gram.
