- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
grams = cups × 123 g per US cup (236.59 mL). For a 250 mL metric cup the weight is 123 × 250 ÷ 236.59 = 129.97 g. A US tablespoon is 1/16 cup and a teaspoon 1/48 cup; metric spoons are 15 mL and 5 mL.
Example
Inputs: Amount = 2, Measure = Cup, Cup standard = US cup (236.6 mL). Result: Weight in grams: 246 g; Weight in ounces: 8.68 oz; Grams per cup used: 123 g.
Limits and caveats
- The figure is for shelled kernels; pistachios in the shell give much less kernel per cup.
- Ground or crushed pistachios pack more tightly, so their cup weight differs.
- USDA figures are rounded to the whole gram per cup, and grain size, variety and moisture make your real weight a little higher or lower.
