How it is calculated

Gratuity = (basic ÷ 30) × gratuity days per year × years of service, with part years pro rata. The minimum is 21 days (3 weeks) once one year is completed.

Example

Inputs: Basic monthly wage = 12,000 QAR, Years of service = 4 years, Extra months = 6 months, Extra days = 0 days, Gratuity days per year = 21 days. Result: Gratuity due: 37,800.00 QAR; Daily wage: 400.00 QAR; Days of pay earned: 94.5 days.

Limits and caveats

  • It uses basic wage without allowances unless the contract gives more.
  • An employer pension or savings scheme may replace part of it where the contract says so.
