How to use it
- Enter opening stock, units received in the period and units sold.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Sell-through rate = units sold ÷ (opening stock + units received) × 100.
Example
Inputs: Opening stock = 0 units, Units received in the period = 400 units, Units sold = 260 units. Result: Sell-through rate: 65%; Units left: 140 units; Total available to sell: 400 units.
Limits and caveats
- It only compares units available with units sold and does not reflect timing within the season.
- Some stores measure it by value instead of units; you can enter values in the same fields.
Questions about this tool
What is a good sell-through rate?
It depends on the category and period, but many retailers see 40% to 80% a month as healthy.
How is it different from turnover?
Sell-through is the share sold of what was available in one period, while turnover counts how often stock is replaced over a longer span.
What should I do with a low seller?
Review price and display, consider a discount or bundle, and order less of it next time.
