How to use it

  1. Enter cash on hand now, monthly expenses, current monthly revenue and monthly revenue growth.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

For each month m: revenue = current revenue × (1 + growth)^(m − 1), burn = expenses − revenue, subtracted from cash. With no growth: runway = cash ÷ (expenses − revenue).

Example

Inputs: Cash on hand now = 600,000, Monthly expenses = 80,000, Current monthly revenue = 30,000, Monthly revenue growth = 0 %. Result: Runway: 12 months; Net burn this month: 50,000.00; Status: Cash runs out before revenue covers expenses.

Limits and caveats

  • Assumes flat expenses and steady revenue growth; real numbers fluctuate.
  • Does not model taxes or large one-off payments unless you fold them into the monthly average.

Questions about this tool

What is runway?

It is the number of months the company can keep operating on current cash before it runs out, if burn stays as it is.

Why does runway grow when I add revenue growth?

Revenue rises each month so burn shrinks, and you may reach breakeven before cash runs out.

When should I start the next raise?

Many founders start with roughly 6 to 9 months of runway left, since a round usually takes several months.
