Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter angle and angle unit.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
tan θ = sin θ / cos θ, csc θ = 1 / sin θ, sec θ = 1 / cos θ, cot θ = cos θ / sin θ. Degrees become radians by multiplying by π / 180.
Example
Inputs: Angle = 30, Angle unit = Degrees. Result: sin: 0.5; cos: 0.8660254038; tan: 0.5773502692.
Limits and caveats
- A radian input like π / 2 has to be typed as a decimal, so its tangent may show as a huge number rather than undefined.
- Results are rounded to 10 decimal places.
Questions about this tool
Why is tan 90° undefined?
cos 90° is zero, and tangent is sine divided by cosine, so it would mean dividing by zero.
What is the difference between degrees and radians?
A full turn is 360 degrees or 2π radians, so one radian is about 57.2958 degrees.
How can I remember the special angle values?
sin 30 = 1/2, sin 45 = √2/2, sin 60 = √3/2, and cosine runs through the same values in reverse.
