Questions
- UTM links to see where every order comes fromHow to build UTM links for your Instagram, Snapchat and email campaigns so your analytics reports show where each visit and order came from, with Arabic campaign names.
- What should I put as source and medium for the link in my Instagram bio so I can see how many orders it brings?A bio link is permanent, so give it fixed UTM values your ads and stories never share: source instagram, medium social, campaign bio. Worked link included.
- I post on Snapchat for free and also run Snapchat ads. How do I keep paid ad visits apart from ordinary story visits in my reports?Keep the source snapchat on both links and change only the medium: social for stories, paid_social for the ad. Then judge the ad's orders against its spend.
- Why do visits from my WhatsApp broadcast messages show up as direct traffic in analytics, and how can I tell they came from WhatsApp?Apps often open a link without telling your site where the visitor came from, so the visit is filed as direct. The fix is a link that carries WhatsApp in its UTM tags.
- I published the same offer as a story, a post and a reel. How can I tell which one the order came from?Three links with the same source, medium and campaign that differ only in utm_content: the campaign total stays in one row and you can still split it by placement.
- My analytics reports show (not set) as the campaign for some of my visits. What is missing from my link?A link with only utm_source works, but leaves medium and campaign empty, so reports show (not set). How the tool warns you before you publish, and how to fix it.
- The link a marketing partner gave me already has a utm_source. Should I replace their values with mine or keep them? When to choose Replace existing and when Keep existing if a link already carries a partner's UTM tags, with a worked example showing what happens to each parameter.
- Should I write the campaign name with spaces like Ramadan Sale 2026, with underscores, or with hyphens? How does each look in the link? How Ramadan Sale 2026 looks in the link in each style, why mixing styles splits one campaign into several rows, and how the tool applies one style for you.
- What is the utm_id field in a campaign link builder, and when do I need to fill it in?utm_id is an optional campaign identifier, useful when your analytics matches campaigns by ID, for example to import costs. If you do not do that, leave it empty.
- Is it OK to put a customer's name or email address in a UTM link so I know who opened my message? No. UTM values are visible to anyone who sees the link and are stored by your analytics tool, and encoding hides nothing. What to use to see which group clicked.
- My campaign link became very long because of the Arabic campaign name, and I am sending it by SMS. How do I make it shorter? Each Arabic letter in a UTM value becomes six characters in the link. Worked example: 159 characters with an Arabic name, 79 with a short Latin one.
- My Google Ads account has auto-tagging on. Do I still need to add UTM parameters by hand?Auto-tagging adds its own click identifier and is often enough for Google's own analytics. When manual UTM tags still help, and how to add them safely.
- I pasted my store address www.mystore.com into the UTM builder and it was rejected. What is wrong? The base URL must start with https:// or http://, and the tool does not guess the protocol for you. What each error means, and how to copy the right address.
- I am handing out printed flyers at an exhibition. How should I name the source and medium in the QR link so I can see the exhibition visits on their own?Make the event the source and the printed item the medium, tell each printed piece apart with content, then turn the link into a QR code. A worked Riyadh expo example.
- How can I find out how many visits the website link in my email signature brings in?A link tagged with source email_signature, medium email and a fixed campaign goes in every message you send and stays separate from newsletter visits.
- For influencer collaborations, should I give each influencer their own UTM link or a discount code? Which gives me a clearer picture?A tagged link measures visits and the orders that follow a click; a code catches buyers who never clicked. How to use both per influencer and compare the two counts.
- How do I separate visits from the website button on my Google Business Profile from ordinary search result visits?Put a tagged link in your profile's website field, such as source google, medium organic, campaign gbp_listing, so profile visits get a campaign of their own.
