Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter number of panels, finished curtain length, hem allowance (top and bottom together) and pattern repeat (0 for plain).
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Cut length = finished length + hem allowance, rounded up to a multiple of the pattern repeat if any. Total fabric = panels × cut length ÷ 100 (m). 1 yard = 0.9144 m.
Example
Inputs: Number of panels = 4, Finished curtain length = 250 cm, Hem allowance (top and bottom together) = 30 cm, Pattern repeat (0 for plain) = 0 cm. Result: Total fabric: 11.2 m; Total fabric in yards: 12.25 yd; Cut length per panel: 280 cm.
Limits and caveats
- Assumes each panel is made from one full width of fabric.
- Hem allowances depend on the heading style, so check the right figure with your tailor.
Questions about this tool
What is a pattern repeat?
The vertical distance after which the pattern starts again. Rounding the cut to it keeps the pattern matched across panels.
How much should I add for hems?
30 cm for top and bottom together is common for double hems, but some headings need more.
How do I know how many panels I need?
Work it out first with the curtain size calculator from your window width and fullness, then enter it here.
