How to use it

  1. Enter point system and courses (grade then hours).
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

GPA = sum of (points × hours) ÷ total hours. US: A = 4, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1, D- = 0.7, F = 0. Saudi: A+ = 4, A = 3.75, B+ = 3.5, B = 3, C+ = 2.5, C = 2, D+ = 1.5, D = 1, F = 0.

Example

Inputs: Point system = US (plus and minus). Result: GPA: 3.52 of 4; Total hours: 13; Total points: 45.7.

Limits and caveats

  • On the US scale A+ counts as 4.0 here; some schools count it as 4.33.
  • Weighted high school GPAs with extra points for AP or Honors classes are not covered.

Questions about this tool

How do the US and Saudi 4.0 scales differ?

The US scale has minus grades such as A- and B- and gives A and A+ 4 points; the Saudi scale gives A+ 4 points and A 3.75.

Does an F count in the GPA?

Yes. It counts as 0 points with the full course hours, so it pulls the GPA down.

Can I convert a 5.0 GPA to 4.0 by dividing?

A straight ratio is only an estimate. Recalculating from your course grades on the 4-point scale, as this tool does, is more accurate.
