How to use it
- Enter weight.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
cups = grams ÷ 198. tbsp = cups × 16, tsp = cups × 48, metric cups = cups × 236.59 ÷ 250. The kitchen measure is rounded to the nearest 1/4 tsp.
Example
Inputs: Weight = 250 g. Result: US cups: 1.26 cups; Tablespoons: 20.2 tbsp; Teaspoons: 60.6 tsp.
Limits and caveats
- The figure is for regular granulated sugar; caster or coarse sugar can weigh a little differently.
- The kitchen measure is rounded to the nearest 1/4 tsp, and chart figures to the gram.
- Metric cup (250 mL) and spoon values are scaled by volume from the 236.59 mL US cup figure.
Questions about this tool
How many cups is 250 g of white sugar?
250 g is about 1.26 US cups, or 1 1/4 cups + 1/2 tsp, at 198 g per cup.
Does scooping change the weight of sugar the way it does flour?
Much less. Sugar crystals do not pack down like flour, so a leveled cup stays close to the chart weight.
Is the result in US or metric cups?
The main result is in 236.59 mL US cups, which the chart uses, and metric 250 mL cups are shown too: 250 g of white sugar is 1.19 metric cups.
