How it is calculated
grams = amount × unit size in US cups × 226. 1 tbsp = 1/16 cup, 1 tsp = 1/48 cup, metric cup 250 mL = 1.0567 US cups, 1 US stick = 1/2 cup. 1 oz = 28.3495 g.
Example
Inputs: Amount = 0.5, Unit = US cup (236.6 mL). Result: Weight in grams: 113 g; Weight in ounces: 3.99 oz.
Limits and caveats
- The chart gives 113 g per half cup, so a cup here is 226 g; exactly 8 oz would be 226.8 g.
- Chart figures are rounded to the gram, and a scale is more exact than any cup.
- Metric cup (250 mL) and spoon values are scaled by volume from the 236.59 mL US cup figure.
