How to use it
- Enter wall or space width, number of frames and width of each frame.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Gap = (wall width − frames × frame width) ÷ (frames + 1). Center of frame n from the left edge = n × gap + (n − 1) × width + width ÷ 2.
Example
Inputs: Wall or space width = 300 cm, Number of frames = 3, Width of each frame = 50 cm. Result: Gap between frames and at each end: 37.5 cm; Center of first frame from left edge: 62.5 cm; Center-to-center distance: 87.5 cm.
Limits and caveats
- Assumes every frame has the same width and hangs in one row.
- Gaps are equal between frames and at the ends. For tighter spacing between frames, enter a narrower space width.
Questions about this tool
How do I hang frames above a sofa?
Enter the sofa width, or about two thirds of it, instead of the wall width so the frames spread evenly above it.
Do I need gaps at the ends?
Here yes, so the group stays centered. To start the first frame at the edge, add twice the resulting gap to the width you enter.
At what height should the row go?
Use the picture hanging height calculator and keep all frame centers on the same line.
