How to use it

  1. Enter solve for, earnings, views and rpm (revenue per 1,000 views).
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

RPM = (earnings ÷ views) × 1000. Rearranged: earnings = RPM × views ÷ 1000, and views = earnings × 1000 ÷ RPM.

Example

Inputs: Solve for = RPM, Earnings = 120, Views = 40,000, RPM (revenue per 1,000 views) = 3. Result: RPM (revenue per 1,000 views): 3.00; Earnings per view: 0.003.

Limits and caveats

  • RPM shifts with season, viewer country and topic, so estimates from one month are rough.
  • The tool does not know any channel's real RPM; it uses the figure you enter.

Questions about this tool

How is RPM different from CPM?

CPM is what an advertiser pays per thousand ad impressions. RPM is what reaches the creator per thousand views after the platform share, including views with no ad.

Why does RPM change month to month?

Ad prices rise in high-spend seasons and fall after them, and RPM also varies with viewer country and content topic.

Can I estimate another channel's earnings?

You can by assuming an RPM, but the result is very rough because that channel's real RPM is not public.
