How it is calculated
Week 1 is the week holding the start date, beginning on the chosen first day of the week. Week number = floor(days from that week start to the date ÷ 7) + 1. School days = days in the range minus weekend days.
Example
Inputs: Term start = 2026-08-23, Term end = 2027-01-14, Date to check = 2026-10-01, Week starts on = Sunday, Weekend = Friday and Saturday. Result: School week number: 6; Weeks in the term: 21; Weeks left after this one: 15.
Limits and caveats
- Public holidays and mid-term breaks are not removed; subtract them from the school days yourself.
- The default term dates are only an example; enter your own school or university calendar.
Questions about this tool
How is week 1 counted if term starts midweek?
The week that holds the start date is week 1 even if classes begin on a Tuesday; week 2 begins on the next first day of the week.
Are the first and last days counted?
Yes. The term start and end count when they are school days, and the date to check counts among the days done.
Which options fit Saudi Arabia and the Gulf?
Choose Sunday as the first day and Friday and Saturday as the weekend, the pattern most Gulf countries follow.
