How it is calculated
Every month holds 4 full weeks (28 days). The extra 0 to 3 days start from the weekday of the 1st, so those weekdays occur 5 times and the rest 4 times.
Example
Inputs: Year = 2,026, Month = October, Weekday = Friday. Result: Number of Fridays: 5; Dates (day of month): 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; Days in the month: 31.
Limits and caveats
- It counts Gregorian calendar days only and does not know the public holidays in your country.
Questions about this tool
How many Fridays are in a month?
Four or five. It is five when Friday falls among the 1 to 3 extra days beyond 28.
Can a weekday occur 5 times in February?
Only in a leap year, when the weekday of 1 February occurs 5 times, like Thursday in February 2024.
Does the first day of the week change the result?
No. How often each weekday occurs in a month is the same whichever day your week starts on.
