How to use it
- Enter oven temperature.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
°C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. From mark 1 up, gas mark = (°F − 250) ÷ 25; 250 °F = 1/2 and 225 °F = 1/4. The nearest mark is chosen.
Example
Inputs: Oven temperature = 425 °F. Result: Nearest gas mark: 7; Temperature in Celsius: 218.3 °C; Temperature of that mark: 425 °F.
Limits and caveats
- The scale only runs from gas mark 1/4 to 10, about 212 to 512 °F.
- Oven dials vary in accuracy, so watch the first bake.
