How it is calculated
Quarter = floor(((month - fiscal start month + 12) mod 12) ÷ 3) + 1. A quarter starts on the 1st of its first month and ends on the last day of its third month.
Example
Inputs: Date = 2026-09-30, Fiscal year starts in = January. Result: Quarter: Q3; Fiscal year: 2026; Quarter start: Wednesday, July 1, 2026 (2026-07-01).
Limits and caveats
- Fiscal year naming varies between organisations, so it is shown with its start and end years, like 2026/2027.
- Each quarter is assumed to be three whole calendar months, not a 4-4-5 week pattern.
