Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.

How to use it

  1. Enter distance per month, consumption given as, car consumption, old price per liter and new price per liter.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Liters per month = distance × consumption ÷ 100 (or distance ÷ km per liter). Cost = liters × price. Monthly change = liters × (new price - old price). Yearly = monthly × 12.

Example

Inputs: Distance per month = 2,000 km, Consumption given as = Liters per 100 km, Car consumption = 8, Old price per liter = 2, New price per liter = 2.25. Result: Monthly change (negative if lower): 40.00; Monthly cost at old price: 320.00; Monthly cost at new price: 360.00.

Limits and caveats

  • It assumes your distance and consumption stay the same after the change.
  • Real consumption depends on traffic, air conditioning and driving style.

Questions about this tool

How do I find my car consumption?

Fill the tank and reset the trip meter, then at the next fill divide the kilometers by the liters to get km per liter.

What is the difference between L/100 km and km/L?

The first is liters burned per 100 km, the second is kilometers per liter. The tool takes either and gives the same result.

Does the tool know current fuel prices?

No, enter both prices yourself from the official announcement in your country.
