Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter pool volume, current salinity, target salinity and bag weight.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Salt (kg) = (target − current salinity in ppm) × volume in liters ÷ 1,000,000. Bags = salt ÷ bag weight, rounded up.
Example
Inputs: Pool volume = 50,000 L, Current salinity = 500 ppm, Target salinity = 3,200 ppm, Bag weight = 25 kg. Result: Salt needed: 135 kg; Bags: 6; Increase: 2,700 ppm.
Limits and caveats
- The right salinity is set by your chlorinator maker, so check its manual.
- Use pure pool salt without iodine or anti-caking agents.
Questions about this tool
What salinity do salt pools usually run at?
Most chlorinators work around 2700 to 3400 ppm; the exact figure is in your unit manual.
What if I add too much?
Salt cannot be removed chemically; you drain some water and top up with fresh water, so add salt in stages.
How long before I retest?
Run the pump until the salt dissolves and mixes; a full day is usually enough before testing again.
