How it is calculated
Each emoji is matched as one unit by Unicode properties: Extended_Pictographic symbols with their presentation selector, skin tone and ZWJ sequences, regional indicator flag pairs, and keycaps such as 1️⃣. Each is then removed.

Limits and caveats
- Text emoticons like :) or <3 are not emojis and are kept.
- Some signs such as ‼ and ↔ are emoji in Unicode, so they are removed.
Questions about this tool
Are flags and combined emoji removed whole?
Yes. A flag, a family or an emoji with a skin tone is removed as one unit, with no invisible parts left over.
Are Arabic letters or diacritics affected?
No. Only emojis are removed, and Arabic joining and diacritics stay as they were.
How are emojis counted?
Each emoji that shows as one picture counts once, even when it is built from several code points like 👨👩👧.
