Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter room length, room width and border from each wall.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Max length = room length − 2 × border, max width = room width − 2 × border. Then the largest common size by area that fits within both, in either orientation, is chosen.
Example
Inputs: Room length = 400 cm, Room width = 350 cm, Border from each wall = 45 cm. Result: Largest common size that fits: 200 × 290 cm; Maximum rug length: 310 cm; Maximum rug width: 260 cm.
Limits and caveats
- Common sizes vary by shop and country, so check the real size before buying.
- A 45 cm border is a common design habit, not a fixed rule.
Questions about this tool
How much floor should show around a rug?
Many people leave 30 to 60 cm so the floor frames the rug. Small rooms can use less.
Does it rotate the rug to fit?
Yes, it compares the rug's short side with the short side of the free space, and long with long.
What if no common size fits?
Choose a smaller rug or order a custom one at the maximum size shown in the result.
