Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter text and show capital signs.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Each letter is a six-dot cell (a = dot 1, b = dots 1 2); numbers start with the number sign ⠼, a capital letter with ⠠ and an all-caps word with ⠠⠠.
Example
Inputs: Show capital signs = yes. Result: Braille: ⠠⠓⠑⠇⠇⠕ ⠼⠃⠚⠃⠋; Unsupported symbols: None.
Hello 2026
⠠⠓⠑⠇⠇⠕ ⠼⠃⠚⠃⠋
Limits and caveats
- It writes uncontracted grade 1 only, not the grade 2 contractions used in books.
- Quotes, brackets and some symbols take two cells in UEB and are not supported, so they are left as they are.
- Have a Braille transcriber check anything for official print or public signs.
Questions about this tool
What is the ⠼ before numbers?
The number sign. It tells the reader the next cells are digits, so 1 is the cell for a after this sign.
Why is there a ⠰ between a number and a letter?
That is the grade 1 indicator, placed before letters a to j after a number so they are not read as digits.
Can I print the result on a normal printer?
The result is visible symbols for copying and display. Raised Braille needs a Braille embosser.
