How to use it
- Enter amount, measure and density.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Grams = volume in mL × 0.9214 g/mL. The density comes from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy, "Oil, soybean, salad or cooking"): one US cup (236.59 mL) of vegetable oil weighs 218 g. 1 oz = 28.3495 g.
Example
Inputs: Amount = 1, Measure = US cup (236.6 mL), Density = 0.9214 g/mL. Result: Weight in grams: 218 g; Weight in ounces: 7.69 oz; Volume in millilitres: 236.6 mL.
Limits and caveats
- The density is for soybean oil; sunflower, corn and canola oils are very close.
- Edit the density for a specific oil.
