Date syrup (dibs) cups to grams converter
Date syrup thickness varies between producers, so this tool works out density from Brix instead of one fixed number. The default is 74 °Brix, typical of commercial dibs.

How to use it
- Enter amount, measure and brix.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Specific gravity = 1 + B / (258.6 − (B / 258.2) × 227.1), where B is degrees Brix (the standard sugar-solution approximation). Density = SG × 0.9982 g/mL, and grams = volume in mL × density.
Example
Inputs: Amount = 1, Measure = US cup (236.6 mL), Brix = 74 °Bx. Result: Weight in grams: 326.5 g; Weight in ounces: 11.52 oz; Volume in millilitres: 236.6 mL.
Limits and caveats
- The equation is based on sugar solutions; for date syrup it is accurate to roughly 0.5%.
- If you do not know the Brix, keep 74; thinner dibs may be 68 to 72.
Questions about this tool
How many grams are in a cup of date syrup?
At 74 °Brix a US cup weighs about 326 g and a 250 mL metric cup about 345 g.
What is Brix?
It is the percentage of dissolved solids, mostly sugar, in 100 g of syrup. Higher Brix means heavier, thicker syrup.
How many grams is a tablespoon of date syrup?
A 15 mL tablespoon weighs about 20.7 g at 74 °Brix.
