How to use it
- Enter oven temperature.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32. Gas mark 1 = 275 °F and each mark adds 25 °F; mark 1/2 = 250 °F and 1/4 = 225 °F. The nearest mark is chosen.
Example
Inputs: Oven temperature = 200 °C. Result: Nearest gas mark: 6; Temperature in Fahrenheit: 392 °F; Exact temperature of that mark: 204.4 °C.
Limits and caveats
- Recipes round Celsius to tens, so a printed table may differ by one mark at about 170 °C.
- Real gas ovens vary; an oven thermometer gives a truer reading.
