How to use it

  1. Enter taxable sales before vat, taxable purchases before vat and vat rate.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Output VAT = sales × rate ÷ 100, input VAT = purchases × rate ÷ 100, and net VAT = output VAT − input VAT.

Example

Inputs: Taxable sales before VAT = 100,000, Taxable purchases before VAT = 60,000, VAT rate = 15 %. Result: Net VAT: 6,000.00; Status: Payable; Output VAT (sales): 15,000.00.

Limits and caveats

  • It assumes one rate for all sales and purchases; the default 15% is the Saudi standard rate, so change it for your country.
  • It does not handle exempt or zero-rated sales, limits on input VAT recovery, or penalties.

Questions about this tool

What is the difference between output and input VAT?

Output VAT is what you charge customers on sales. Input VAT is what you paid suppliers on taxable purchases.

What does a negative result mean?

Your input VAT is larger than your output VAT, so you have a credit to reclaim or carry forward, depending on your country's rules.

Should I enter amounts including VAT?

No. Enter amounts before VAT and the calculator applies the rate itself.
