How it is calculated
Coffee (g) = water (mL) ÷ ratio number; 1:16 means 1 g of coffee per 16 mL of water. The SCA Golden Cup is 55 g per litre.
Example
Inputs: Water = 1,000 mL, Brew method = SCA Golden Cup (55 g per litre). Result: Coffee needed: 55 g; Ratio used: 1:18.18; Coffee per litre: 55 g/L.
Limits and caveats
- Ratios other than the SCA standard are common starting points to adjust to taste.
- It treats 1 mL of water as about 1 g, and some water stays in the wet grounds.
